Havana Street at the Railroad Crossing North of Smith Road to Close Due to East Rail Line Construction

- Beginning as early as May 17, 2013*, the Regional Transportation District’s contractor for the East Rail Line, Denver Transit Partners (DTP), will begin construction on Havana Street between Smith Road and 37th Avenue. A complete closure of Havana Street at the railroad crossing between Smith Road and 37th Avenue will occur. Work is scheduled to be completed within 60 days.

Northbound traffic on Havana Street (toward Smith Road) between Florence Way and 37th Avenue will be prohibited. Northbound drivers are advised to find an alternate route to their destination. Southbound traffic on Havana Street (toward Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard) will be detoured on 37th Avenue to Peoria Street and onto Smith Road. Eastbound traffic on Smith Road between Havana Street and Moline Street will be prohibited. Westbound traffic on Smith Road will continue using Smith Road. Please comply with posted detour signs.

To begin 2013 the Regional Transportation District implemented Route 89 onto Stapleton streets as a connection from the Stapleton Park and Ride (will become the Central Park Station in early 2016) to the Fitzsimons Medical Campus in Aurora. The route will also service the Central Park Recreation Center along with stops at the new Bluff Lake housing project on Havana road & 31st Avenue.
